About Us

At Global Goal 17, we are a UK-based non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of children in need by providing equal access to quality education. We believe education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating sustainable futures for all. Our mission is to empower children through education, from age zero to seventeen, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or financial situation, is offered the opportunity to learn and succeed.

We aim to take direct action by empowering children from underprivileged backgrounds (with a focus on those from families subsisting on less than 60% of the median income in the country of residence or from ethnic minority backgrounds) through educational support and scholarships.

Our Story

Founded in 2019, Global Goal 17 draws inspiration from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We focus on key SDGs such as No Poverty (SDG 1), Quality Education (SDG 4), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). Our scholarship-driven initiatives focus on direct action, making tangible differences in children's lives worldwide. Through strategic partnerships, like our PENDO (Partnership in Education for National Development Outcomes) programme, we collaborate with local schools and grassroots organisations to provide scholarships and educational support to underprivileged children.

Global Goal 17's Partnership Objective

Global Goal 17 aims to build effective and mutually beneficial partnerships that align with our mission of empowering children from disadvantaged backgrounds through comprehensive educational support. We are committed to adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Charities Act 2011, the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, and the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.

Key Goals:

  1. Enhance Educational Access and Quality:

    • Collaborate with local schools, educational institutions, and community organisations to improve access to quality education for disadvantaged children.

    • Provide resources, training, and support to enhance teaching methods and learning environments.

  2. Promote Holistic Child Development:

    • Partner with sports clubs, health organisations, and social services to integrate sports, health, and life skills into our educational programmes.

    • Ensure children receive well-rounded support that addresses their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

  3. Strengthen Community Engagement:

    • Work with community leaders, church leaders, elders, teachers, and local officials to identify and support the most vulnerable children.

    • Foster community ownership and involvement in educational initiatives to ensure sustainability and local relevance.

  4. Support Policy and Advocacy Efforts:

    • Collaborate with policy-makers, educational authorities, and advocacy groups to promote policies that support inclusive and equitable education.

    • Advocate for the rights of disadvantaged children to ensure they receive the support and opportunities they deserve.

Guiding Principles:

  1. Alignment with Legal and Ethical Standards:

    • Ensure all partnerships comply with UK charity laws, including the Charities Act 2011, Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, and the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.

    • Maintain transparency, accountability, and ethical practices in all partnership activities.

  2. Mutual Benefit and Shared Goals:

    • Establish partnerships that offer mutual benefits and are based on shared goals and values.

    • Clearly define roles, responsibilities, and expectations for all parties involved.

  3. Sustainability and Impact:

    • Focus on creating sustainable partnerships that have a long-term positive impact on the communities and children we serve.

    • Regularly evaluate and review the effectiveness of partnerships to ensure they continue to meet our objectives and mission.

  4. Inclusivity and Equity:

    • Prioritise partnerships that promote inclusivity and equity, ensuring all children, especially those from marginalised communities, have access to quality education and opportunities.

    • Address barriers to education and support diverse needs within the communities we serve.

Advancing Education

We are dedicated to advancing education across all subjects within the national curriculum, with a special emphasis on Maths, Language, Sciences, and Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education. Our programmes also promote environmental and sustainable practices that positively impact the communities we serve.

Ensuring Quality
